Starlink for Boats and Yachts in Kuwait
Why Starlink Maritime?
Traditionally, boat internet was via VSAT — costing thousands in equipment and over KD 300/month for slow speeds. Starlink has completely changed this equation.
| Traditional VSAT | Starlink Maritime | |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment cost | KD 3,000–10,000 | ~KD 770 |
| Monthly subscription | KD 300–1,500 | KD 77–250 |
| Speed | 2–10 Mbps | 50–220 Mbps |
| Installation | Specialist technician | Self-install |
| Size | Large and heavy | Small and light |
Available Maritime Plans
| Plan | Monthly Price | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile Priority 50GB | ~KD 77 | Fishing boats, short trips |
| Mobile Priority 1TB | ~KD 155 | Yachts, medium use |
| Mobile Priority 5TB | ~KD 310 | Luxury yachts, heavy use |
Cheaper alternative: Some boat owners use the Roam plan (~KD 46/month) instead of Maritime. It works in nearby coastal areas but with lower priority.
Real-World Uses on the Water

Boat Installation
Requirements
- High, flat location on the boat roof (flybridge or antenna mast)
- Open 360° view — no obstructions (radar, other antennas)
- Secure mounting — the sea rocks, the dish must be stable
- Salt protection — use corrosion-resistant materials
Installation Steps
- Choose the highest flat point on the boat
- Secure the marine mount with stainless steel bolts
- Mount the dish on the base
- Route the cable to the bridge or cabin
- Connect the router and open the app
- The dish auto-aligns itself
Note: The dish handles waves and vibration — it's designed for maritime use. But in very rough seas, it may disconnect temporarily.
